The Beginning

Starting with a small weaving mill and one hundred people to produce indigo cotton garments for Thai farmers, Bangkok Weaving Mills Ltd., (BWM) was born. That was in 1950. It soon became evident that importing yarns was subject to both quality and price fluctuations. The next stage of our development was to set up our own yarns spinning facilities, ensuring consistent quality yarns for our own weaving and for market needs. Within a short time, BWM became the leading supplier of first-class canvas for Japan and the USA, and sheeting for Europe.

The International Growth Period

Our quality products soon set standards in the region, and prospects from Europe and the USA started to take notice. We were getting known as the people who supplied quality at the right price and delivery at the right time as well as listening to our customers’ needs.

The Global Breakthrough

By the early eighties, we realized that in order to continue to set industry standards in what was becoming a highly competitive sector world-wide, the BWM management decided to upgrade the manufacturing process. Between 1987 and 1992, we invested in two new mills capable of spinning and weaving fine cotton yarns and fabrics to meet the growing global demand for fashionable cottons in the ready-to-wear segment. The highly successful Bangkok Domtex Co., Ltd. (BDT) commenced business.

The Vertical Integration

In 1991, we launched the Aswin Dyeing & Finishing Co., Ltd. (ADF) the most modern mill of its kind in Southeast Asia. Our strategy was to vertically integrate our operations to provide value-added service and to meet the demands of our incresingly sophisticated global clientele. We were now able to supply wide-width grey fabric and finished fabrics to world renown brands in the home textiles and apparel markets respectively. Testimony to our stringent quality standards was the ISO 9000 award we received in 2001 the first of all kind in Thailand for a cotton fabric manufacturer.

With the addition of the wide-width dyeing and finishing range, together with the automatic fabrication of bed lines under Sippana Co., Ltd. BWM group is now in the position to truly offer complete one-stop services to our customers around the world, be it the retail or the hospitality sector. Faced with new challenges, BWM Group will continue to pursue its objectives of achieving long-term customer satisfaction through quick response philosophy, world-class qualities, and continuous innovation.
